Head  Alexandre Chagnes holds a doctorate in thermodynamics and electrochemistry in electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries. After two postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Sherbrooke (Canada) in the field of electrocatalysis and CEA on the study of speciation in pressurized water reactors as well as a position of Lecturer at the University of Tours where he was interested in the thermodynamic properties of mixtures of ionic liquids and solvents, he was appointed Associate Professor at the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie Paris (ENSCP - ChimieParisTech) in 2005. Since 2016, he is Full Professor at the National School of Geology in Nancy. He's being working in the laboratory GeoRessources on physicochemistry involved in hydrometallurgical processes for recovering strategic metals from primary and secondary resources (i.e. mining and recycling, respectively). He is author of 80 articles and more than 80 conferences in France and abroad. He regularly organizes national and international symposia in the fields of resources and energy.

Deputy-Director

Florent Bourgeois holds a Ph.D. in extractive metallurgy of the University of Utah (1993). After eight years in research and education in Australia (CRCMining, Univ. Of Queensland, JKMRC) and five years at BRGM, he is Full Professor at INP-ENSIACET Toulouse since 2006 and conducts his research in a Laboratory of Chemical Engineering located in Toulouse, France (LGC - UMR 5503). His work focuses on the design and modeling of solid-solid-liquid separation processes, for applications related primarily to the valorization of minerals, coal and wastes. His scientific contributions relate more specifically to grinding, liberation and textural modeling of ore and waste, the classification of methods and gravimetric separation, vacuum filtration, CO2 storage by mineral carbonation and sampling. He is currently an independent technical expert to the European Commission for the ETV pilot program (Environmental Technology Verification).
